This was one of the top sets of the week, and THAT'S talking. Doyle Bramhall is the real deal. The beat of Double Trouble and yes, the voice of it too, this set was high-octane from the first note to the rare SXSW encore. He has a new CD on Yep Roc Records called "Fitchburg Street" which is a wonderful mix of classic and contempary blues. It features his son Doyle Bramhall II on guitars on a few tracks as well as Dru Webber who played at this gig. His son didn't play in this live set, though Mike Keller, filled in quite nicely. He also plays with another TX artist, Jane Bond an act I didn't get a chance to see, but seeing Mike's fiery guitar playing, I'm definitely going to look into it. Check out Doyle's web site here.
